ARTIST'S STATEMENT:
This gallery features images taken during a week-long visit to the Pacific Northwest. The title of this project is aptly named since a majority of the subjects for these images are well-known tourist destinations. This was an ever-present concern I had while photographing. How to show these scenes in a light that hasn't already been done by hundreds before me. Yet, these scenes I witnessed were new to me, and I couldn't help but be engaged in what I saw. The awsome power of the waterfalls, the vastness and tonal qualities of the desert, the character of the Oregon Coast, and the overwhelming presence of Mt. Rainier. My hope is that I have been able to come close to presenting each scene in a way that captures what I was sensing at each moment.
